Drinking From the Tap: Examined and Explained

Greetings, all.

Since the dawn of time, I have been shouted at for drinking from the tap instead of using a glass/cup etc.
Every time my mother or granny shouts at me, I try to explain how it is not dirty but they refuse to listen.

I figure that perhaps others will listen.

THIS IS A TAP

THIS IS A GLASS
So, the average person would probably pour water from the tap into the glass and drink it from there... correct?

Drinking from a glass
Now, is this healthy and correct?

What about this:

Drinking from the tap
I do this all the time. Is this wrong? Why is it considered to be dirty?

Okay, so let's look at this from a "bad germs and dirt" point of view.
Let's make this quantifiable as well.

Okay. So let's say the water that passes through the tap has 1 unit of dirt. (This is an assumed and hypothetical amount. Just to be fair in the argument.)
Perhaps we'll say that the external part of the tap that does NOT come into contact with the water has 1 unit of dirt on it too.
Let's say the glass has 1 unit of dirt in it (Yes. Even if it has been cleaned before use.).
And finally let's say your hands have 2 units of dirt on them (since human hands are supposedly very dirty, even when washed.)

So, now that we have a hypothetical factual and quantifiable environment, let's break this down into 4 scenarios.

SCENARIO 1:
DRINKING FROM A GLASS

Okay, so this is the norm for us humans. The expected situation for all people that have any idea of etiquette.
So, we're opening the tap, pouring the water from the tap into the glass and then we drink from there.
Now if you remember, the water has 1 unit of dirt and the glass has 1 unit of dirt.
So this scenario gives us a total of 2 units of dirt.

SCENARIO 2:
DRINKING WITH YOUR HANDS

Now, we come to a more primitive method of collecting and drinking water from a tap: Using hands.
Here, we open the tap, let water collect in our hands and then drink it from there.
Going back to our dirt count, the water has 1 unit of dirt and our dirty human hands have 2 units of dirt because we collect dirt from everything we hold or touch (no, washing your hands does not destroy all the dirt).
This scenario gives us a total of  3 units of dirt.

SCENARIO 3:
DRINKING FROM THE TAP (TOUCHING TAP)

Sigh... Yes, it's a cat.
[Internet explodes with awws, giggles and kitty praises]
Anyway, I think very few people do this compared to the previous two and the one remaining scenario, but this is a scenario nonetheless so I shall incorporate it into the bigger picture.
Okay, so we open the tap, put our mouth TO THE TAP, drink water, close the tap.
Now, because there's contact with the rest of the tap, we'll assume that the dirt from there joins the water on the adventure into your mouth.
So, there would be 1 unit of dirt from the water, and an additional 1 unit of dirt from the external part of the tap that you're touching with your mouth.
That gives us a total of 2 units of dirt.

SCENARIO 4:
DRINKING FROM THE TAP (NOT TOUCHING TAP)

Ah, our final scenario and the one that we want to check.
Okay, so as you're all aware by now, this is what I do often.
Now as the simplest and quickest method, we only open the tap and drink the water.
There's 1 unit of dirt in the water and... oh wait. THAT's ALL.
Yes, that's right. The total for this scenario is 1 unit.

CONCLUSION:
The cleanest way to drink from a tap is by mouth but without tap contact.

Anybody that complains about me doing this may now eat their words... and also eat the dirt that you got by resorting to the dirtier methods of drinking water.

Stumbling

I recently started using a really cool website called StumbleUpon (Cavie mentioned it to me).

Anyway, so it's basically a site dedicated solely to recommending other sites to you.
You sign up, tell it what you like, and then browse through what it shows you.
I found some really random and interesting stuff.

You can find interactive stuff like this:
new.weavesilk.com/
(Open the site on a PC, click, hold the mouse button and draw.)
this:
scarypersimmon.com/ld21/MazeEscape.swf/
or this:
www.flaminglunchbox.net/curvy/

...or just random reading like this:
mixthatdrink.com/jolly-ranchers-vodka/
or this:
thesavoia.com/2012/11/05/oh-theyre-so-surprised/

Depends on your preferences.
I like a mix of interactive and non-interactive.

I know people like myself and Trishanta get bored at work all the time so I hope this helps.

Enjoy!

2012-12-21: A Survivor's Diary

21/12/2012
00:00 (South African time)
On the phone with Verushka. We saw some troublesome stuff on the net about today, but the world still seems to be intact so far.

00:30
Going to sleep now. Nothing has happened, but if everything's okay, I'll have to go to work, so I might as well have enough sleep.

07:25
My shower tap has broken off. Is this the catastrophe that the Mayans predicted?

07:56
I'm at work. I survived the drive too.

08:16
I'm at my desk wondering whether anything is going to happen today.

09:07
I have been reading Cavie's blog posts.
I've been so busy with work (and so tired after work) that I haven't been able to give him the attention he deserves from me <3
But the world is crazy if it thinks that it will end before I read and enjoy what he writes.
Work is going slow this week so I'm happy that I can comfortably read his blog.
I continue to marvel at his writings and how his November posts all start with C.

09:23
Adrian said "</world>"
I laughed. He said I should credit Terishka Bissoon for this joke.

09:40
Gangnam Style has 997,228,640 views.
Apparently the 1,000,000,000 mark was to be the end of the world :/

10:16
I'm so tired. Maybe I shouldn't have stayed awake to see if the world ends. Would have been fine if I didn't have late nights every day this week. Verushka keeps telling me how she's at home in bed, having coffee, etc.
I'm jealous.
Champs (Trishanta Pursotham) is chatting to me on GMail and refusing to get me a pillow.
Two songs still remain in my head. One will replay over and over, then the other one will step in for a bit and they alternate this way.
1. http://your-face-is-a-blog.blogspot.com/2012/12/cannot-stop-thinking-of-this.html
2. www.mochachos.com (Yes, the restaurant franchise. Click and wait. You probably need flash and/or javascript. I'm not sure what it uses.)

11:56
It's almost halfway through the day and I'm still alive.
Dimension Data has a Christmas lunch on the canteen menu today. Obviously to distract us from the truth.
Larisha Govender says that all will be fine because "Goku saved us."

12:04
Gangnam Style has passed 998,000,000
It's only a matter of time now.
Champs says her bum keeps getting bigger. Definitely a sign of the apocalypse. There is no hope.

12:17
I want to see Verushka. I miss her.
We were meant to have lunch today. 5 minutes with her would make my day now.
I heard Cavie recoil and yelp at my previous statement. I heard it from here.

13:30
Verushka's about to take me for lunch. :D
*She's waiting outside for me.
I'm gonna seeee her.  [Dorky dance]

*(No, I didn't make you wait. I wrote some of these things later than they occurred and put the relevant timestamp because that's what I was thinking at the time so it's still cool.)

15:22
I got back from lunch with Verushka.
She's still alive. Whew.
So am I.
THANK YOU. I know SOMEONE in the audience said "whew" in reaction to MY safety. I appreciate your concern regarding my well-being.
She didn't let me pay and I forgot to sneakily leave my money in her car :(
Now I'll have to buy her TWICE as much food next time #BoyfriendProblems
There was some traffic but Verushka's driving skills made short work of any problems.
She jokingly yelled "HEY, LADY" to call the waitress after we attempted to get her attention and when she did yell, the lady actually turned around and looked. She felt awkward. Verushka felt awkward. Not the lady. Maybe the lady too.

15:31
VERUSHKA IS HOME. SHE IS SAFE. I sent her a BBM "Whew" face to let her know how concerned I was. She totally misses me already.
I am at my desk at work.

16:22
The important people have left work now.
I spent a while looking for some cute pictures of animals for Verushka.
I'm tired now.
Yes. Still alive. But there's still time for the world to end.

16:31
Leaving now. Verushka said.
If there's traffic, it's her fault :(

17:09
Got home just now. Was a little traffic but it was okay.

17:25
Tired. A quick nap and I'll be okay.

20:00
Shit. I slept for a while.
My parents and sister went to have supper and will be back just now.

21:30
I ate Verushka and my leftovers and a bit of a ham roll. My parents and sister were at Spur earlier. They came back a while ago. I'm going to Previn's house because it's Ony's birthday just now.
Still alive. If we die before Ony's birthday, it'll be funny.

23:00
There's an hour left. Perhaps we won't die today after all. THERE'S A SURPRISE.
I feel bad. :( I'm not talking to Verushka freely. I hope she forgives me. We'd better not die now.

22/12/2012
00:03
We are wishing Ony happy birthday as it's past 12.
We also did not die. I REPEAT: We did not die.
However, I'll wait for the day to pass in every country/time zone before I assume complete safety.

00:50
Got home a while ago. Gonna phone Verushka :)

01:39
Going to sleep now. If I'm still alive in the morning, I think I'm gonna call it a day and assume the world will survive.

[Awake]
I'm not sure what time it is. Didn't check yet.
But it's day-time and everything's okay.
We survived.

TRILOGIESES?? What is trilogieses?

Good morning.

I have come here to discuss how film directors are now forcing splits and trilogies.
I get the "making more money" thing,  but sometimes it just seems way too forced to me.
Strangely, I also note that it improves the movies sometimes.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows was, in my opinion, better when it was split into two movies and there was enough time for them to actually stick more to the storyline and add detail etc.
However, this seemed quite silly to me after the 4th, 5th and 6th movies needed this the most and they only used it for the last one. Of course, it would have probably taken three years more if they split the others too.

The Hobbit came out recently and I haven't gotten a chance to watch it yet.
(Yes, it did inspire the title of this post.)
It's my favourite of the Lord of the Rings books and I do want to see it ASAP.
Well, this is The Hobbit - Part ONE. "An Unexpected Journey"
I do hope the trilogy doesn't ruin it. Why would it though?

I guess, despite being a bit annoyed, when the movies are split into parts, I'm happy that they are, so they can be given more attention to detail, etc.
I mean, hey, I'm gonna bitch and moan about wasting money on three movies to watch The Hobbit, but I'll obviously do it anyway.
#FirstWorldProblems?

On the other hand, the recently famous Batman trilogy was so addictive that I'm disappointed that they STOPPED at the trilogy. Really, though. I'm sure that this Batman trilogy did more for DC Comics than any other DC-related release ever could. Why stop when everything is going well?
I guess there must be politics and stuff behind it, but I really would have liked to see this series of Batman movies continue for a few more movies, introduce a few more villains, maybe allow for a few side-movies, maybe finally end with a massive showdown or something... I dunno.
Even the aging of the actors could have played into the storylines and stuff.

Another trilogy I was a little disappointed in was the X-Men trilogy. I loved the movies until the abrupt (in my opinion) ending. I thought it would have been awesome if they continued it for a bit and introduced all the classic characters and storylines before letting half the cast die in X-Men III.
Yeah, they had Wolverine's origins and X-Men: First Class. I thought both were interesting and cool :)
But they should have made more movies instead of cameos.
WHY DID GAMBIT HAVE SUCH A SMALL PART IN THE SERIES?
AREN'T THEY GONNA TIE UP X-MEN WITH THE AVENGERS?
The Marvel universe just has so many opportunities for success.
I do hope that they use them.

STILL WAITING FOR DEADPOOL. Violence and humour. There must be lots of violence and lots of humour. 4th walls being broken left, right and center. 18VL seems appropriate.

Just a few thoughts and opinions.
Feel free to agree/disagree.

An exciting work week

SO, this week at work, I got to do some programming of sorts.

Extron TLP 710TV

It's an Extron touch panel. Yeah, it's more configuration than programming, but I'm enjoying it so let me be.
It's mostly drag and drop. No code whatsoever, but very interesting and even entertaining to design the logic and to play around with the GUI (Graphical User Interface, for the technologically-impaired).
Basically, the client has a room full of video conference stuff, TVs, HDMI inputs for laptops, speakers, processors, etc and this touch panel needs to link to all of them and tell them what to do.
It's been fun so far :)

Ah, the thrill of designing algorithms again...
How I have missed you...

This makes up for the fact that my car was sent in today for some slight repairs :(
My poor Ifrit... <3

Otherwise, I'm quite tired now and I'm going to go home to relax.
SEE YA LATER, CROCODILE.

Less than a month to live? (Now with work pics!)

So, despite the Mayan's calendar not including leap years and stuff, I still wonder whether the world will indeed end next month.
Well, I'll be pretty sad if Verushka just wasted money on Metallica's April concert because we die next month and don't get to see it.
Hmm... I think I had a good life. If we're all gonna die, at least I know I had fun, met awesome people, loved some, lost some, got an effing degree, got a job, got a car, went on a short holiday and used my own money, read amazing books, watched amazing stuff, played wonderful games, said and heard memorable things and so much more.

I have a shit-load to read and watch before I die, though. Don't think I'm gonna have time to see everything.

---

Speaking of Game of Thrones...

...I feel horrible that I sorta harassed Cavie in my previous post.

It wasn't intentional at all.

I may have been unfair.
I may have overreacted to the way he let out his feelings and stuff as I already knew he would.
I may have missed his humour and needed it at the time.
I also may have turned into a woman and PMS'd all over him.
DAFUQ.
Anyway, my last post was meant to be more general. I don't know what happened.
But, forgive me, dude. I still love you and stuff <3

http://your-face-is-a-blog.blogspot.com/2012/04/dat-guy.html

Also, I just took immense pleasure in reading his last blog post which was like a late autobiography.
http://cah-vie.blogspot.com/2012/11/cavie.html
Thanks bro. You should slap me sometimes too. Not just on the rump.
---

Otherwise, it's  been a busy couple months.
Work has been pretty tough because we've been moving across the road and stuff.
We moved across already. It was a lot of hard work, but it's awesome to know you accomplished a lot.
At least I learned how to use some basic tools, did some physical labour and became even MORE manly.

Had to help move those whiteboards

The new auditorium before it was completed. We assembled and mounted those screens.

In our old parking lot.

Not prohibited. Just awful.

Checked our stock

Checked the stock with this list.

Ladders love making jokes.

Working in a boardroom

Our new reception area.

Trying to terminate a VGA cable

Stress relief

Rather tired of this guy's face in my online learning stuff.
Yeah, so if the Mayans's stuff was right, I spent my last 2 months doing that stuff.

Anyway, lemme go spend some time with Verushka before the apocalypse.
LATER, YO.

Bl-Bl-Bl-Blogs... Bl-Bl-Bl-Blogs...

Hope you read the title in the tune of Beethoven's 5th Symphony.

So, I've never really been such a fan of specific blogs.
You know... like a blog solely dedicated to some topic. Even intellectual stuff has somehow become slightly boring to me after time. I think I'm just a fan of variation. I guess you're supposed to browse something else and then get back to the blog in order to break up the monotony.

Meh.

Anyway, so I think I was introduced to blogging by Cavie. (See http://cah-vie.blogspot.com/ )
I enjoy his ramblings.
However, I realised that so many blogs don't capture the person I know (and am fond of).
[Waits for Cavie to jump back in horror/confusion]
Don't get me wrong. I'm not saying that I don't like your blog. It's just that you're witty and cheerful in person and then suddenly your blog sounds like you in 50 years. I know those thoughts are part of you too, but that's not ALL you are.
I don't like how everyone's blogs have somehow become a way to express deep and emo shit.
I want more random posts and quick thoughts like I see in Adrian's (http://awesomenessincarn8.blogspot.com) and Sanchia's (http://supersanchia.blogspot.com) blogs.
Simple and yet awesome.

Anyway... just a thought.

Ah, Akinator

This website has given me endless satisfaction and entertainment.

I know it has its merit as a novelty website when you first see it, but I figure  it deserves a spot on my blog.
Plus, I might forget it and will see it here and check it out again. Hopefully it stays around.

http://en.akinator.com/

At the risk of spoiling the fun, I'll explain:

It's basically 21 Questions or whatever that generic game is.
You think of a character/person (fictional or real) and it'll ask a series of questions and determine who you're thinking of.
I know there's only a finite combination of answers it needs for a correct answer but I still enjoy it :)
It's quite an awesome source of fun.

Anyway, just thought I'd share it.

(Also, happy one year and eight months to my Verushka. Love, hugs, kisses, sex, marriage, children, etc.)

It's a tie!

So, I have to know. Seriously.

Why does Dilbert's tie stick up like that?
WHY.

I'd understand if it was his shoes or even his pants. It'd make sense.

Is there a wire in his tie?
Is his tie horny?
Perhaps there's a constant upwards-blowing breeze around him?
Maybe his shoes have little fans on them?
MAYBE IT'S HURRICANE SANDY (If you're reading this at another time and don't remember this reference (or if you're me in a couple minutes time), I'll remind you that this hurricane attacked USA in 2012.)
Maybe his tie is alive. Frankentie?

Sigh.
Okay, so I Googled it.

Wikipedia says:
"In nearly every strip, Dilbert's tie is curved upward. While Scott Adams, the creator of the Dilbert comic strip, has offered no definitive explanation for this, he has explained the tie at least as a further example of Dilbert's lack of power over his environment. A second explanation given by Adams in the Dilbert FAQ is that "he is just glad to see you". Adams has also hinted that the tie may be displaying an aversion to him. Additionally, in Seven Years of Highly Defective People, Adams wrote: "Many readers asked me to allow Dilbert to lose his innocence with Liz, so to speak. But I didn't see any way I could do that in a comic strip and get it past the editors. So I developed a secret sign. I told the people who receive the Dilbert newsletter that if Dilbert ever got lucky with Liz, I would draw his normally upturned necktie flat one day."
The flat-necktie strip was printed on August 9, 1994, in which Dogbert suspected that Dilbert had gotten lucky; ironically, the tie was shown flattened after Liz stated she did not believe in fornication (Dogbert wondered if Dilbert, who was acting oddly serene, had discovered religion; Dilbert said he "thought he was Unitarian").[4] In another strip, Dilbert met Antina, an overly masculine female coworker who caused his tie to flatten and point downward,[5] strengthening the idea of the tie being a phallic symbol (Adams himself has said that he does not know what it means). On January 11, 2011, Dilbert was diagnosed with pon farr which caused an irresistible urge to mate. His tie was straight for the next two strips. Sometimes when Dilbert is surprised, scared, or has been beaten up, his tie goes straight. A series once went on about his tie, during which Dogbert attempts to find out. He tries having Ratbert eat one of the ties, theorizes that it has an aversion to him, and eventually gave up after a discussion with the garbageman."

... Well that kinda killed my interest in the tie...
Although I mentally chuckled at the inside joke :)
Clever.

Anyway, that's my pondering for the day.

A little while ago, communicating with a LAN not so far away...

Conversation with Sean:
------------------------

Sean:  dude, a pretty girl just sat next to the computer next to me, i was searching for star wars wallpapers at the time, she left soon after. she didn't seem so pretty after that.

 Sean:  lolololol

Sean:  i was a lil Hoth under the collar though
 me:  LOL

Sean:  my hyperdrive didn't need fixing when she was around.

me:  Lucky she just left though. If she was really bad, she could have sprayed you with Mace... Windu.

Sean:  that would've been some Grievous bodily harm.
 me:  :D
Was trying to think of a way to use that.
Sean:  lol, i got nothing now. can't think.
me:  Maybe she only goes for guys that have a tattoo...ine...

Sean:  lol, it's the obvious ones that elude us.
me:  Did she walk out normally? Or did she leave while dancing Gungan Style?

Sean:  she seemed a lil Fett though.

me:  Maybe she didn't think your lightsaber was long enough?

me:  Maybe she thought you were The PhanTOM Menace.
Sean:  LOL, nah, i think i just underestimated her power to resist me.

me:  Maybe it's because she said I and you said RRRRRRRRRRRR
*hi

Sean:  maybe it's coz of the food i had in my mouth at the time, it was a bit Chewie.
me:  Caveshen:  Do or do not make jokes, there is no try.
I pasted the convo to him.
 Sean:  Lololol

me:  :/ can't think of anything else.

Sean:  yeah, i think we've exhausted it. there's only so much star wars in my head.

Caveshen:  Do or do not make jokes, there is no try.

Hmm... Makes Sense

So, this random thought was in my head recently:

Which of the five senses is your strongest?

I'm sure, most people will say sight or hearing.

I considered it for a while and thought I'd go with smell.

Explanation:
I'm a pretty messed up guy sometimes. I could probably watch someone get beheaded or watch someone throw up or defecate in public and, yes, I'd be sorta disturbed, but I'm sure I'd be okay until I smelt it.
Yeah, the smell would be the thing that gets to me most.
Horrible images?
Well, spoiler alert: I might say a few horrible things in my blog. I'm pretty open.

Anyway,  point is, that's why I'd say smell is the dealbreaker for me.

I welcome comments and opinions about which sense is strongest with you (preferably with explanations of why you'd choose that sense).

3...2...1... GO.

Phuza Thursday

No, really, guys. My workplace actually has a Phuza Thursday.
Thursday is Pub Night. Free drinks after work.
WHAAAAT?!
That's right.
I might have forgotten to mention this earlier.
U JELLY?

Also, we're in the process of moving to a bigger and better building across the road, so while the construction's going on, I had to be inducted so I'm now allowed to enter the new site before it's completed.
Did that yesterday.

Will soon have to say bye to my desk that I only recently acquired. :(

My work desk, phone and laptop with awesome wallpaper

Okay, back to learning about networking on Dimension Data's online courses.

Actually working and stuff

Sup, people.
As the title implies, I have actually been doing stuff here at work.
It may not take up 100% of your time, but it tires you out quite a bit.
It's pretty cool though.
Feel a little more important. Sense of accomplishment. Smell like a man at the end of the day. Etc.
Totally lost some weight too.
SHUT UP, I DID, OKAY!

Hi, Verushka :)

She was at the beach with me this weekend, guys. We had fun.
We walked a lot and that also contributed to my weight-loss.

Not Durban's beach, but hopefully it makes Verushka happy.
Anyway lunchtime is just about up so back to work.
LATERZ.

Thursday, 4 October 2012

It's been a while...

Okay, so it's been 700 years since my last post, but I have a few good reasons for this:

1) I now have a job. I am currently sitting at my desk at Dimension Data.
It's actually pretty cool. I'm an "Associate Engineer" in the Converged Communications business line.
The people are pretty friendly and stuff and the managers are helpful and all-round awesome.
Nothing's better than a manager that can make you laugh. (Well, okay, there are better things, but shut up.)
I've been sorting out stuff for this and I obviously have to spend time working now, so I'm sorry Bloggy.

The reception desk

2) I have a car. He's a red Seat Ibiza (2007 model, if you must know). His name is Ifrit and he is very helpful. Couldn't exactly get to work without him. I got him a while ago.

Ifrit
3) I've been quite lazy to blog.
... Well, it's true! I'm sorry guys. GUISE. Srsly.

Kay, so just a quick update, I guess. I'll probably actually blog again soon! Bubbye!

FUJIN...

So, for a long time, I've promised a certain someone that I'd write a blog post about her.
I've actually put this on hold for a while, not just because I had to write exams and all the other stuff I mentioned in the previous post, but also because SHE had to write exams and stuff.
THEN SHE'LL FUJIN BLAME ME IF SHE DOESN'T DO WELL.
FFSISFGYDUIFGY

Ahem...

Hi, Tant :)
How are you?
So, like, I figured that you should have some time to read this in between your hubbly sessions and obsessing over puppies and stuff.

So, yeah, I know you've been busy with a lot of stuff this year, just like me, and this post is sorta saying thanks for still being around for me and stuff. You've helped me through a lot of shit :) I appreciate it.
LOL "through a lot of shit"
Well, I might as well return the favour and get you through the following shit:

:) ?

You always tried to help out and also tried to teach me some common sense stuff, hey?
Even though sometimes you say "I HATE UOU"
But, yeah, thanks for being there and stuff, fatty. You should "come here" and meet up with us for that. We owe you a hubbly session, and a party and shit, hey?

LOL "party and shit"

[Something about green tea here]

DEGREE. AMBUSH. WEDDING. DRAKENSBERG. BIRTHDAYS

Okay, so I've had a relatively busy period of life since exams.
Here's a summarised version:

THE DEGREE
So I passed all my exams this semester and because of that, I completed my degree :)

CONFIRMATION OF DEGREE
Rather happy that that's over but it's not fun to be without campus friends and stuff now.
Especially since the gee-eff is in Mozambique since last week.
I feel so alone :/

Took forever to finish campus stuff by the way :/
With the amount of checking and confirming I had to do.
Apart from having to deal with staff replying to my emails with "goway" :|
Seriously. WHO DOES THAT?
Otherwise, it's been job hunting and stuff. Bleh. It sucks. DO NOT LIKE.
---

So anyway, the reason that everything's been busy and stuff since exams is not just because of campus stuff or job hunting. It's mostly because my cousin, Reuben, was getting married! (Again, congrats/condolences!)
I have a relatively large amount of overseas relatives so because they were down, we were trying to see them almost every day.
I got to see Mary Rose, Indran and Caelyn. Got to take care of Caelyn for some time this holiday.
Hayley, Sastri, Devak and Jai were also around and we got to see them for a while too :)

Before I got to hang with them and stuff, however, I was ambushed.

THE AMBUSH

It was a dark and stormy night.
Okay, no. It was a calm and relatively average day.
I went to visit Verushka in order for her to help me with my CV and job hunting.
We spent most of the morning doing that. Suddenly and unfortunately, Verushka received some stressful work-related news (her own work, that is) and I decided to stay a little longer and make sure she was okay. Not too long because her family was coming over for supper that evening.
It was getting towards late afternoon and we had just about sorted everything out when SUDDENLY... some family arrived. :/
Panic stained the air.
Thankfully, Trishanta and Yulishka arrived first. I knew them and apart from seeing their disturbing faces, I was okay with them being there.

I needed to escape quickly so I started getting ready and then was struck with another blow when I heard a second car pulling up the driveway.
[Horror movie music starts playing in the background]
Relative after relative was introduced to me. I received stares, nicknames, and then... compliments, jokes, warming smiles.
This family wasn't so bad :)
In fact, they were very much like my own. A large family, but one that I enjoyed being around.
Of course, I was not used to everyone yet, but they seemed like actual good people.
Slightly calmer now, I managed to mingle a little and to even laugh and talk.
All in all, an okay experience.
Perhaps I would not mind seeing these people again.

---
ANYWAY, the actual big event. The wedding:

THE WEDDING

Reuben's wedding required us to help out quite a bit and to see most of my family very often. I don't mind seeing my family as I'm very comfortable with most of them.
I would say everything went swimmingly: the bachelor party, nalangu, and the wedding itself.

I don't have a picture of the bridal couple, but I managed to take this delightful pic of Jai feeding Caelyn.
Anyway, glad that everything went well and all the best for Reuben and Kemsila in the future. :)
They do, in fact, make a wonderful couple. (Good luck, Kemsila. You'll need it.)
---

DRAKENSBERG

So after the wedding, we were free to spend more time with Indran, Mary Rose and Caelyn.
We actually went to Drakensberg for a couple days. Thought I'd just briefly mention it (LOLbrief).

Caelyn on the swing

Mum, Orisha, Mary Rose, Papa and Indran during our short hike.
Yep. Was rather entertaining. The little lady kept us busy and when we actually got to spend time with Indran and Mary Rose, they were excellent company as usual. :)
---

BIRTHDAYS

After we got back, I attended two 21st birthday events. Yashaar's and my cousin, Brandon's.

The traditional cake photo. (Well, him as well, but I meant the birthday cake that is ON his face.)
Sorry, Brandon. I didn't take any photos at your party :/
Oops.
But another happy birthday for each of you! All the best, God's richest blessings, etc etc.
---
Um... I think that's about it for the holiday summary?
Yeah, okay. More posts to come shortly. Then after they're done, they'll appear on this  blog. Yay.

Because YOLO

Yuvi:
Gasp, the blog totally made that title on its own.
I didn't even.

Blog:
I did not.

Yuvi:
NOW IT'S TALKING TO ME. HOLY SHIT! :O

Blog:
Yeah, yeah. I'm a blog and I can talk. Whoo hoo.
Now why the hell haven't you been writing to me all this time?? HUH??
What, you had more important things to do?
Busy with WORK?
... You got another blog, didn't you?
DIDN'T YOU?!

Yuvi:

... What the hell is going on here? NO!
I was really busy since exams. I swear.
In fact, I came here to explain why I've been away so long.
Please, just let me explain. :(

Blog:

I like them long... :$

Yuvi:
Um... Yes. It will be... :/
I'll talk about it in the next post.

Blog:
Okay. :)
I'm sorry I got mad. I'll be quiet now.

Yuvi:
:) It's okay. Lemme write the other post now.

Blog:
... I love you.

Yuvi:
What?

Blog:
NOTHING.
Bye.

The Half-Year Chaos

I have completed writing a horrible set of exams.
Ah, it was a rather disastrous time.
Many things went wrong. Many situations and incidents were badly timed.
Still, it is not the end of the world as yet, however, I now often stay up at night wondering.
The realisation that I often came here to this blog but did not write anything is strange to me.
I am actually quite tired at the moment, but I can't sleep yet.
Lovely thoughts during the day.
Lovely nightmares at night.

Unexpectedly, an indication of my stress and messed-up mind appeared.
Psshh... Yu-Gi-Oh.
So, what does a simple card game and animated series have to do with stress and worry?
Evidently I become addicted to it every time I'm upset.
The simple explanation would be that the last time I was addicted to it was in January.
Well, it was for some reason, the only thing that made me feel better. (Yes. Then.)
It came up a couple times before that, too.
Those were not good times. No.

Hey, I feel much better now at least after releasing bottled-up anger and emotional stress.
However, I feel cloudy inside. Possibly lost. I do hope this all goes away soon.

Even after this, it doesn't help that I've been happily presented with a supplementary examination.
Regrettably, "unfair" is the word that comes to mind.

I mean, this post and, you know?

I mean, introduction to post and is you for the hurdle is hard and, you know?

Confused?

^ PLAY THIS (it's 2-Player, though.)

In fact, all the games on Foddy.net have helped me de-stress throughout this semester.
Silly as they are, they're pretty damn addictive.

Foddy's been famous for QWOP for a while, but we killed it this year by visiting it every day.
Sean and I competed daily in Winner vs Loser, Pole Riders (where we added our own rules to make it fair) and 2QWOP. Even the 3 best one-player games (QWOP, Too Many Ninjas, and Little Master Cricket) had us competing via high scores.

My high score in Too Many Ninjas.
Eventually, Winner vs Loser became a meme for us where we ended up talking like the end-of-race speeches.

IF YOU DIDN'T PLAY IT YET, GO CHECK IT BEFORE YOU READ THE REST OF THIS POST.

Example of the awesome winning/losing speeches.

Well, he posed for it. I had to.
(Yes, I'm aware that I should be studying for exams. I took a break. This didn't take me long. I swear.)

Okay, okay.
I'm going.
BYE.

... ... ... you know?

Ya, Brad?

Taking a break from studying to write something here.

Since I made something for Brad, it seems fit that he also gets his own blog post in order to receive it.
I'm not sure how long this link lasts, so download it sharp-game, Brad.

Sameer and my dear Cava may also appreciate this so you guys should dig in. (Cava, you may also wanna download this after you dig in.)

Sorry, guys. I was lazy to do the intro screen of it.

ALSO take note that it's 30mb.

UPDATE:
I changed a few things and actually put a title screen in now.

My Lucky Birthday 2012

So, today (11 May) was my birthday.
By the time I finish posting this, it'll probably be well past 12 so I had to add the date.
... So I remember when my birthday was...
No, I'm not that old. I just often have trouble remembering what I'm saying, what I'm doing, what is going on around me, and what I'm saying.

SO...
Was a relatively cool day.
Started off with some special people being the first ones to wish me. You know who you are. :)
Economics reared its ugly head and threatened to ruin the day, but some of my family, my awesome friends and that girl, Verushka decided to save me and stuff.
I was treated to many amazingly-well-thought-out messages.
Then... long story short :

Wasn't a complete disaster, though.
Whoever phoned me, I was able to answer without having to see anything on my broken screen.
In addition, I was able to see some awesome Facebook posts and tweets directed at me.
Of course, I was also able to see a few of my good friends at campus and they made sure to wish me in person. They even forced a Happy Birthday balloon and Nerd-card upon me, a slice of Bar-One cake which i definitely refused until I was forced (Shh! Verushka might be reading this!) and some even went as far as to give me a birthday Unreal Tournament game.
Yes. You, Thomas (Alright. Fine. "Sean.").
Adams waitress girl was pretty amped about it too. :)
Was phoned by Tanusha! YAY. She talked a lot of shit... but faeces is a common topic in our conversation, so that's no surprise.
I really should find out her name...
I was also taken to Spur for supper, where I enjoyed my second favourite rack. (You should know this one.)
Many phone calls throughout the day from people far and wide in the world.
End of the day? Who else could fill that position other than the same Verushka that started my day off?
Thank you for doing what you could for me. Your efforts are appreciated more than you know. :)
Even the smallest ones strike home. :)
